The department of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics is concerned with facial growth, development of occlusion and dentition, diagnosis, interception and correction of dentofacial anomalies and craniofacial malformations

In the department of orthodontics , dentists are prepared to diagnose , prevent and treat tooth and associated jaw irregularities. They correct existing conditions and are trained to identify, intercept problems that may develop in future.Orthodontists work with people of all ages from children to adults.

This department focuses on optimizing aesthetics of face ,providing a functional,comfortable and stable bite

VISION

To become a highly efficient and qualified Educational Centre providing a comprehensive curriculum to ensure ethical awareness to students and help them to become clinically proficient clinicians. Orthodontic Department envisions to provide basic treatment modalities to advanced procedures including self-ligating bracket system, esthetic brackets, implants, lingual orthodontics, fixed functional analysis, adult orthodontics and interdisciplinary orthodontics.

    Objectives

    Undergraduate program in Orthodontics is designed to enable the qualifying Dental Surgeon to diagnose, analyses and treat common Orthodontic problems by preventive, interceptive and corrective Orthodontic procedures.

    The objectives of the department are as follows:

    Objective 1

    To provide quality Orthodontic care in an ethical manner and with interdisciplinary team approach.

    Objective 2

    Aims to lay foundation of basic knowledge and assimilate associated Orthodontics skills to understanding of the etiology, path of physiology and subsequently accurate diagnosis and treatment plan of various Orthodontic problems.

    Objective 3

    To obtain proper clinical history, methodical examination of the patient.

    Objective 4

    To deliver treatment care irrespective of the social status.

    HOD’s Message

    The Department of Orthodontics & dentofacial orthopaedics is one of the premiere departments of the institution offering best personalized care to patients with various malocclusions and Dentofacial deformities. More than attaining an aesthetic confident smile, we focus on psychological uplifting and boosting the self-confidence of our patients.

    Our speciality of dentistry is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions which range from irregularly positioned tooth to disproportionate jaws. Preventive and interceptive treatments procedures are being carried out so as to prevent the development of various malocclusions requiring major comprehensive treatments for its correction. The dentofacial orthopaedics deals with the control and modification of facial growth. Our department is also keen in carrying out various advanced treatment procedures in the field of orthodontics.

    Our department focuses on making the learning environments conducive for students to achieve their goals in life. Our team of faculty is committed towards providing a holistic learning environment for an all-round development of the budding dental professionals.  The students are trained with unsurpassed skills in Clinical, Academic and Research domains under the guidance of the well qualified team of highly skilled faculty members.     Course Details

    The Undergraduate program in our Department begins from second year of the BDS program and contains practical and clinical components. Students learn the art of basic wire bending, orthodontic appliance fabrication, examination and diagnosis of dental and craniofacial anomalies. Students are familiarized with the techniques in Fixed orthodontics, Myofunctional therapy and emerging new treatment modalities in orthodontics.
